Please visit again to find out what is going on during the 2026 Festival of Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeology
The Festival of Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeology returns, and this year the theme is archaeology and nature.
Archaeology and nature are deeply connected. They reveal how people have lived with, shaped, and been shaped by the environment around them. By exploring the past through climate, geology, wildlife, plants, landscapes, and the impact of natural forces on archaeological sites and historic buildings, we gain a richer understanding of how places and communities grow, adapt, and evolve.
This July, celebrate the rich and diverse heritage of Leicestershire and Rutland. Uncover the stories, sites, buildings, places and people that make our local communities special. Go to new places and revisit old ones. Discover and share the history and archaeology that is all around us.
- Family friendly activities
- Guided heritage walks
- Talks from some of the counties’ leading heritage experts
- Self-guided walks to enjoy at your own pace
- And many more activities, exhibitions and hands-on events across Leicestershire and Rutland
Get out and explore your local community!
