HALLATON CASTLE – THE FINEST MOTTE AND BAILEY CASTLE IN LEICESTERSHIRE
Weekends and Bank Holidays: 2pm – 5pm until Sunday 4th October
Hallaton Museum, the Tin Tab, Churchgate, Hallaton LE16 8TY

Hallaton Castle has been described as “the finest motte and bailey castle” in Leicestershire. This new exhibition is based on the research of Mathew Morris, University of Leicester Archaeological Services. It takes the visitor back to the time when the castle dominated the Old Leicester Road (now the Goadby Road) and can be combined with a short walk to a viewpoint of the castle. (If you want to visit the Castle, see Guided Walks and Tours).

In addition, the museum will be exhibiting its replica of the Roman helmet, found as part of the Hallaton Treasure, alongside the Hallaton Treasure and the Bottle Kicking displays. There is also a chance to see our “Ale Tales” display.
