Festival Health & Safety

The Festival of Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeology coordinators would like to draw your attention to the following health and safety information.

The Festival of Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeology (FLRA) is a registered event of the CBA’s national Festival of Archaeology. The FLRA coordinator, the Leicestershire Fieldworkers (LFW), provides insurance, risk assessment templates and a safeguarding policy for FLRA events organised by members of the Leicestershire Fieldworkers.

All FLRA event organisers must comply with the policies of the Leicestershire Fieldworkers and we would draw your attention in particular to ensuring that at least two organisers attend each event and that walks should have both a designated leader and an official to bring up the rear and account for stragglers.

A Risk Assessment form must be completed for each event and retained for 12 months. The templates below are, where appropriate, partially completed for the relevant event and are not intended to be onerous.

Please note that in order to be covered by the Leicestershire Fieldworkers’ insurance, FLRA event organisers must be paid up members of the Leicestershire Fieldworkers. If you are not already a member, find out how to join us here.

Risk Assessment templates

Each template is a downloadable word document. To use the risk assessment templates:

  • Go through and add relevant information to all shaded yellow areas.
  • Check the risk assessment and add any activity-specific risks not already covered by the risk assessment.
  • Add the A&E details and defibrillator details.
